This talk presents a real-world case study on building a custom Kubernetes controller to handle application promotion, safely moving applications through different environments such as development, staging, and production. As a bonus, we’ll also look at how we’re experimenting with AI agents by integrating an MCP server into the controller. This allows us to manage release processes using natural language commands, enabling AI-driven agents to monitor and interact with deployments more efficiently. Denys is a Principal Site Reliability Engineer with over 15 years of experience across Software Development, DevOps, SRE, and the emerging field of AI Reliability Engineering (AIRe). With a track record of leadership in roles ranging from Co-Founder and CTO to Technical Manager and Operations Lead, Denys has consistently driven innovation while scaling both teams and infrastructure. His current work focuses on AI agents, autonomous systems, and evolving the Kubernetes ecosystem to meet the demands of next-generation platforms, all grounded in a deep commitment to SRE best practices for AI-powered environments.
