Summary ⤵️ Verb questions are ~30% of SAT grammar; goal is 100% accuracy in ~5 seconds each by using answer-choice patterns first, then reading only when needed. Three types: Main verb (~50%), Singular/Plural agreement (~40%), Tense (past/present/future & “had”) (~10%). Main verb ID trick: In choices, forms with -ing, to + verb, or that + verb are not main verbs. Use “odd one out” to pick the only main (or only non-main) verb. “-ed” can flip roles depending on whether any definite non-main forms appear. Singular/Plural (“minority”) trick: If choices include a singular/plural pair of the same verb (e.g., is/are, was/were, has/have, runs/run), pick the grammatical minority form—unless two invalid (non-main) forms appear, then read for the sentence’s true subject (watch “X of Y”: subject = X). Tense questions: Often flagged by will. Use context clues and parallel verbs; reserve had + past participle for the “past of the past” (two past events where one clearly occurred earlier). Why watch? If this is your first view—hi, I’m James 👋 I've personally scored a 1570 on the Digital SAT (770 English, 800 Math) and have spent thousands of hours split-testing strategies, analyzing data, and building a system that helps students reliably break into the 1500+ range. Today there are a lot of SAT tutors online, but I’ve noticed none of the strategies they share even compare to the ones I've discovered in terms of effectiveness. So this channel is my way of transforming the SAT industry. Hopefully I can help you improve your SAT score, and in doing so, open doors that shape the rest of your life 🙏 Like, subscribe, and leave me a comment if you have a specific request! Thanks.
