Decomposed body of 20-year-old woman found in Mumbai’s Kurla; rape, murder suspected

In a shocking incident a 20-year-old woman has been allegedly raped and murdered in Kurla in Mumbai by unidentified person(s). Her body was found in a decomposed state on Thursday. Two accused have been arrested. The police have registered a case under sections 376 and 302 of the Indian Penal Code and a search for other accused is underway. Mumbai police said, "The serious crime of murder with rape of VB nagar ( kurla) is detected. Two accused are in our custody." The woman's body was found in the lift room on the terrace of a vacant building in HDIL colony in Kurla. The post-mortem report confirmed that she was sexually assaulted, the police said. She also had serious head injuries. Deputy Commissioner of Police Pranay Ashok said, "Some boys went to the vacant building to shoot a video on Thursday evening. When they reached, they saw the body covered with blood and informed the police." The statement of the boys has been recorded by the police. The police are also examining the CCTV footage. When found, the victim's body had started decomposing and she has not yet been identified.
