Both the regular 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 and the Harbor Freight jumbo helping hands with led light have excellent reviews for a reason. They are excellent tools for professionals and hobbyists looking for help when soldering, airbrushing, gluing, and other crafts. *Especial Thanks to - 𝐅𝐢𝐱 𝐈𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟! (for 5-sec. clip) Check him out! https://bit.ly/3mFcpbq If you are not familiar with the 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥, these are ingenious devices that do exactly what their name describes. They offer an extra set of hands when working on small projects like fishing lures, pc boards, jewelry repair, and more. If you are looking for a helping hands tool, be aware that there are many different brands available, all at different prices. However, for amazing deals on this Helping Hands at Harbor Freight, check out their weekly flyers for a 20% coupon. 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 If you are in the market for a helping hands tool, Harbor Freight offers two options. Sold under two SKUs (60501 and 60319) is the HTF model. While small and compact, it can provide you a "third hand" when working on your favorite hobbies, doing precision soldering, electronics projects, or any other detailed work where magnification, a steady hold, and extra hands are needed. With 96% of the customers' approval and an overall 4.5 out of 5.0 rating, it may not be the best since many customers complain about it being too flimsy. For me, after owning several of these from different brands purchased at places like Amazon, Home Depot, and even Hobby Lobby, they are all the same. The only difference between those and the Harbor Freight helping hands is the price! At $4.99 before the 20% coupon, these things are a genuine bargain. The other helping hand tool you will find at Harbor Freight is called the 𝐉𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐨 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐄𝐃 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬, and the SKU for this one is 65779. These are better suited for precision work like electronics or detail work. And although they claim that this helping hand tool has a stable cast iron base to keep your work steady, you will see that our simple mod is an improvement. This model features a larger magnifier with an LED light for more details and a better view when soldering and doing detail work. The magnifier with light features a 2x magnification and not the best and a completely useless 6X zoom lens! Perhaps this is why it has only an 89% customer recommendation and a review rating of 4.2 out of 5.0. 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠-𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐬 When it comes to modifying the Harbor Freight Helping Hands tool or any one of these devices, the quality of the materials used in the construction is your most significant limitation! However, that does not mean that there is no room for improvement. I happen to own both of these Harbor Freight Helping-Hands units, and that is because each has its unique application. The smaller one is probably the one preferred by many hobbies and DIY crafting enthusiasts. If you do any airbrushing like painting fishing lures, model cars, or trains, SKUs (60501 and 60319) are the ones you want to get. On the other hand, if you make jewelry, precision soldering on PC boards, and things like that, the larger Jumbo Helping Hands With LED Lights SKU 65779 is better suited for that purpose. My modification of the Harbor Freight Helping-Hands tool is going to address two common issues with these devices. The first is stability. Both of these units tend to tip over when they hold heavy objects. That can be catastrophic if you are painting a lure or applying a clear coat of epoxy. I will be addressing this problem by building a base made out of heavy and dense MDF. As you will see in the video, this base is removable, allowing you to use the Helping-Hands tool in its original state. My second modification of the Harbor Freight Helping-Hands tool will address the issue with the Jumbo Helping Hands With LED Lights and its short mast. There are two issues with this mast! Its height is an issue, yes, but I think that even more troubling is its smooth surface. The magnifying glass does not stay in place because of the smooth surface, nor does the bar that holds the alligator clips. Those two issues combine with the tipping over really limits the type of work you can do. I purchased this helping hands tool to build the crossover of my home theater system and this simple mod that took me about one hour to complete was exceptionally helpful. And although I did not address it in the video, know that if you make little notches with a small triangular file on flat pieces that hold the clips, they become much more stable and hold larger, heavier parts. As always, I hope you can take something away from this video, and please comment, subscribe, like, and share!
