This video will show how to change the oil in an Oil Seal Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump. Prepare the following tools and equipment: safety glasses, rubber gloves, and a lab coat for personal protective equipment new oil a wrench for the drain plug a waste oil container a funnel and rags or paper towels for spills and clean-up Steps for changing the oil: 1. Warm the pump oil. It helps speed up the draining process. If the pump is cold, run it for 5 to 10 minutes with the inlet sealed before draining. 2. After warming up the pump, turn it off and disconnect the power cord. 3. Remove the oil fill plug and set aside. 4. Carefully remove the drain plug when the waste container is ready. Note that the new vacuum pump oil is typically light amber, and the used vacuum oil is typically a darker amber color. Notice when the oil is draining, the appearance of any dark color or highly viscous sludge. This may indicate severe contamination and require additional flushing techniques, as shown in a separate video. 5. After draining all the oil, reattach the drain plug and prepare to fill the pump with new oil. 6. Pour the new oil into the fill port while monitoring the oil level in the sight glass. 7. Fill the oil between the sight glass's low and high indication marks. 8. Reattach the oil fill plug and power cord. 9. Turn the pump on with the inlet seal. Notice the oil level in the sight glass with the pump running and adjust if needed. The pump is now ready for vacuum duty.
