Report Shows Australian Students Are Bullied More

BULLYING REPORT A new report has found Aussie school students are being bullied more than students in other English speaking countries. Yeah, if you've experienced bullying or seen it happen in the school yard, you are not alone. According to a new report from the Australian Council of Educational Research, which compared responses from students and principals across 24 countries, Australia has one of the highest rates of bullying in schools. In fact, the report found that one in six students have been made fun of at school. On top of this, one in 10 say they've had nasty rumours spread about them, and 6% reported physical bullying, and experts say it's leading to students doing worse in the classroom. And if you're being bullied or know someone who's being bullied, you should talk to your teacher or a parent. You can also call the Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800. WATER BOTTLE BAN A school in regional Victoria has started a trial to ban water bottles in the classroom! Ballarat Clarendon College says students in years 5 to 9 will need to leave their drink bottles outside of the classroom during lessons. The school reckons water bottles can be disruptive. But it's caused a bit of a stir, because some think students should have the right to drink water when they feel like it. MONEY KIDS Some kids living in regional SA are finding creative ways to make money, and experts say they're learning some pretty important skills. From selling lemonade on the street, to handcrafted products at the local market, and something a little bit more on the smellier side. Charlie, Olive and Teal from regional SA have been coming up with some pretty creative ways to make money of their own. But they're not just raking in the dollars, experts say they're also learning important life skills, like how to save, budget and spend money... SURFING DOGS First up, to a bunch of dogs surfing in Spain! Dozens of pups and their humans turned out for the 3rd annual European dog surfing championship. Where contestants are judged on their ability to stay on the board. But the main goal is just to have fun, and help dogs and people become even closer mates. RETIRED FIRE DOGS Now to Ecuador's Fire Department, where these fire rescue dogs have just retired! After 7 long years of service, and a vet report that suggested they were getting a bit old for the job, it was decided it was probably time to give these canines another adventure. One that involves less saving lives, and more a walk in the park. PUPPY PROM And finally, to another celebration. The 10th annual puppy prom hosted in San Diego, in the US. It's all to celebrate rescue dogs, and the 4 legged fashion icons did not disappoint.
