This remake was made by the user named luvvvy & it was published on Gamejolt, on February 15, 2025, with the title "Mario.EXE: The Duality Within". Mario.EXE: The Duality Within is a creepypasta, horror, .EXE game where Mario fights for his life against his evil counterpart, Mario.exe, who's also his inner demo & the main antagonist of this game which was entitled after him. Mario.EXE was simply the great Mushroom Kingdom hero Mario at one point, until Satan intercepted him and turned him into a .exe demon to serve him. Mario.EXE's appearance is, shillouette-wise, identical to Mario from Super Mario Bros. although his color palette is slightly darker. He has black eyes with red pupils, blood leaking under them, and his teeth are a light gray. The colors of his shirt and shoes are a dark, murky green, and his hat and overalls are a deep red. In his close up shot from the GAME OVER screen, it's shown he also has golden buttons on his overalls, and a skin-tone "M" emblem on his cap. Mario's life was completely identical to his original version, until Satan became interested in him. The Devil captured him and corrupted him, turning him into Mario.EXE. Satan then sent his servant to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom and kill all of its inhabitants. Instead of Luigi, in this game, Satan decides to torture Mario & ultimately kill him, by shooting him in the head. He also kills Peach in front of Mario, by pushing her in a deep pit & in the Underground level, he attempts to stab Mario in the face with a knife. In the first level, he kills a bunch of Toads, by burning the castle where they live & kills one of them who tries to run away & not get burned, by throwing an axe in its head.
