Been a long time and yes I am still in Thailand, will be for 3-4 years more too, half of the reason for the lack of videos is in the video ;-) I was very lucky to be the 1st in Thailand to place a deposit down on the new R7 (nearly bought a trident 660) and as such got a huge discount from the 339,999baht retail price, half the reason for this was because I have bought 2 motorcycles from the Yamaha dealership and was a member of their riders club, also because I paid cash. They even installed my exhaust system for free and turn a blind eye to the upgrades which was the case before even with the MT07 which was even more modified with a remap etc. If Yamaha are reading this, I am lying, she is bone stock ;-) for warranty reasons... Full spec as of now: 2022 Yamaha YZF-690 - R7 (official name internally at Yamaha) Sc project end can with Thai 360 degree Titanium headers R6 double bubble screen Custom 2010 Moto GP Laguna Seca Rossi graphics (homage to Kenny Roberts) with my own trolling OWO touches. Coming soon.... Reflash ECU Airbox upgrade New Titanium end can with longer link pipe GP inspired Only 66kms done so far, most of the reason for this is the little madam in the video and the rainy season which has just ended, not sure if the mic picked it up but the little lady does call it a Yamama :D No it is not an R7 OWO3, I just did that as every one collectively lost their 's@*t' when the R7 name was announced, I agree it should never of been called this, so I added those graphics as a joke. However this is much faster and more capable of a sports bike than most people realise, the CP2 engine is a fire cracker with heaps of punch in the low and mid rpms which feel 90% as punchy as my old Ducati 1100... just with 1/4 of the service requirements and cost, no overheating and also no engine explosions (I had a experience at around 1000 miles from new after its first service that exploded in winter at a traffic light in London due to it overheating and snapping a belt due to thermal expansion.... well that's what Ducati said) though when that bike worked it was sublime... when it worked. With an exhaust system installed the CP2 sounds almost like my old Ducati, which I found really odd. My main issue with this bike is just the top end power, it needs about 10-15bhp up top, I do wish Yamaha punched out the engine with another 50cc like with the 2022 MT09 to bring it close to 750cc, a genuine 85whp would make the bike perfect............... though I know the secret ingredient to make this happen with the stock 689cc. My old MT07 made a genuine 79-81whp on 95 octane, switching to E20 fuel and installing a bigger air intake along with a better, longer exhaust and slightly more aggressive timing thanks to the higher octane fuel should see it going over 80whp. I am 181cm+ (182+ in shoes) with long legs, arms and very wide shoulders and legs. I cannot fit on a R6 at all, but I fit the R7 perfectly, it could be slightly better with higher risers (have already to install) but 1-2 hours in BKK is actually ok and I get no wrist or back aches. Yamaha really perfected the sports/comfort balance with this bike, it feels aggressive but not at the expense of a chiropractor! I intend to do more videos on this little pocket rocket, just need to sort out the microphone and dust off the gopro. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Camera is the final Olympus 4/3 M5-III Olympus 12mm F1.2 lens Rode Microphone Recorded at 100mbps 6k 4:2:2, downscaled to 4k and recompressed to 11mbps then Youtube compresses further. No luts, colour corrections, nothing, just pure footage from the camera (Thanks Thailand!) If you think the quality is good and wish to know how I compress 20gbs of footage to 2.5gb, let me know and I will be happy to share my secret sauce profile that cuts files down to 15-20% which speeds up performance in Adobe. However you will need at least 12 cores, 16gb of ram minimum. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Like, Share, Subscribe and Comment, I appreciate it.
