Moto Guzzi changed the values (from intake: 0.10 mm & exhaust: 0.15 mm) to: intake: 0.15 mm & exhaust: 0.20 mm. You can see this also in the revised workshop manual from 2015 (page 11). Remove the Plug Caps: The most effective way to remove the caps is to lever them off the plugs from underneath, using a long, thin screwdriver inserted through the cooling tunnel above the exhaust manifold. Once they are unclipped from the center electrode, the caps can be pulled out from the top. Turn the Crankshaft: Turn the nut (located at the end of the crankshaft) clockwise (as seen from the front) using a 24 mm socket and a ratchet, while observing the valve clearance. Observe how the intake rocker arms open and then close the intake valves. You now know that the piston is moving upward in the bore during the compression stroke. Each cylinder is operated separately. Finding Top Dead Center (TDC): Insert something long and clean (e.g. a T-handle hex key with a ball head) into the spark plug opening and feel the piston rise. As soon as it seems to slow down when turning the crankshaft clockwise, you know that you are approaching the top of the stroke. Continue turning until you feel that you have reached the highest point, after which the T-handle hex key will go down again. Just before this point is TDC, which you can feel by wiggling the rocker arms (the intake and exhaust valves have play). Adjusting the Valves: The valve cap wobbles slightly on the adjustment screw, so it is important to move it back and forth a little. If the feeler gauge still cannot be pushed through, loosen the lock nut and unscrew the adjustment screw slightly. Then screw the adjustment screw back in until the feeler gauge can just be pushed through. When tightening the lock nut, make sure that the clearance is not misadjusted (reduced).
