In the French city of Strasbourg, Olga Turcan has become something of a celebrity. She is a student writing a book and she ran out of funding to complete her studies, but it's the solution she chose to find the extra 4,000 euro that got everyone's attention. After all of Olga's requests for grants were turned down, a friend has suggested crowdfunding. She and her friends built an eye-catching website and produced a funny trailer video - investors were bowled over. In the end, Olga raised around 5,000 euros, well over her target. She has also received hundreds of messages of support. She can now finish her thesis without worrying about money.
