Joining government hostels in Telangana is a great opportunity for students belonging to SC, ST, BC, EBC, and Minority communities. These hostels provide free or affordable accommodation, meals, and other basic facilities for students pursuing education from Class V to post-graduation. To be eligible, the student must be a regular student of a recognized school or college. The annual income of the family must not exceed ₹2,00,000 for SC/ST and BC/EBC/Minorities in urban areas, and ₹1,50,000 for BC/EBC/Minorities in rural areas. Priority is given to students who come from rural, tribal, or distant areas and do not have easy access to nearby educational institutions. The application process is made simple through the online platform. Interested students must visit the official Telangana ePASS portal at https://telanganaepass.cgg.gov.in. On the homepage, they need to click on the “Student Services” section and select the “Hostel Application” option. This will open the online application form where the student must fill in personal details like name, date of birth, caste, Aadhaar number, and income details. They must also provide academic information such as the course they are studying, the name and address of their educational institution, and their present and permanent address. Along with the application form, the student must upload certain documents such as a recent passport-size photo, caste certificate, income certificate, Aadhaar card, and a bonafide certificate from the school or college. After carefully filling all the details, the student must submit the application form online and take a printout of the acknowledgement slip for future reference. Once the application is submitted, it goes through a verification process by the hostel warden or the district welfare officer. If the student meets all the eligibility criteria, they will be allotted a seat in a nearby government hostel. Admission will be based on availability and priority guidelines set by the respective welfare departments. This facility helps underprivileged students to continue their studies without worrying about accommodation expenses.
