Celebrate the 40-year legacy of Star Wars in this three-minute montage, accompanied by music from Michael Giacchino and footage from the entire saga. May 25th marks the official 40-year anniversary of George Lucas’ Star Wars. Since its release in 1977, there has been no other franchise in the history of cinema to have built an iconic stature even comparable to that of Star Wars. With eight films released to date, billions made at the box office, and multiple generations of memories and nostalgia surrounding the saga, it’s only fair to say that Star Wars’ 40-year legacy has been nothing short of a staple in the lives of millions worldwide. From John Williams’ legendary score to the iconic sound design of Ben Burtt, it’s safe to say that the wide array of things that Star Wars has been able to offer us over the years has been nothing short of incredible. Extraordinary characters like Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Yoda have given audiences charismatic heroes to look up to, while characters like Rey, Jyn Erso and Princess Leia continue inspire millions of young girls globally. It goes without saying that Star Wars is responsible for impacting pop-culture like no other piece of American cinema, revolutionizing the way we view storytelling as a whole. Our favorite memories of heroic melancholy, musical queues and Han Solo one-liners are what we’ll continue to hold in our hearts forever, immortalizing our favorite galaxy far, far away. That being said, this video is dedicated to everyone involved in creation of the Star Wars legacy. May the force be with you.
