Build your own sim: https://www.amazon.com/shop/pilotinst... Your first story this week is a close call between a Fedex 767 and a Southwest Airlines 737 at Austin Bergstrom International Airport. The near miss occurred in fog, with a runway visual range of about a thousand feet. Based on ADS-B data, it appears the aircraft has less than 250 feet of separation at their closest point. We’re going to play a short clip here, If you’d like to see the entire situation, we’d recommend you head over to VASAviation for the ADS-B and radio call outs! As you can see it was a pretty tense situation, and we’re glad it all worked out for the best. Your second story this week is Gami 100UL has begun sales! This is the first lead free high octane avgas, in the quest to get rid of 100LL. We’ve previously covered multiple 100LL ban stories between California, certain airports, and the EPA, the Gami 100UL is the first step towards ditching 100LL. Gami says the cost of 100UL will remain slightly higher than 100LL until production reaches several million gallons per year. Your third story this week is a crazy one, a Bonanza crash lands on a moving tractor trailer. You can see the video playing in the background here, and we’re happy to report everyone is actually alright. The Bonanza went down due to an engine failure, and caught fire after the crash. We’re glad everyone was okay! And your final story this week is FAA approval for new software on the Garmin GFC 600. Aspen Avionics has gotten approval for the Garmin GFC 600 integration with the EFD1000 Pro Max. The software update will allow basic autopilot features such as altitude, airspeed, and vertical speed targets to be set on the Aspen display, along with an indicated airspeed hold mode. The idea of the update is to streamline controls and reduce workload. The software upgrade comes in at $1995, or for those with the Aspen Evolution E5, only $995. Aspen also noted they’re working with other manufactuers such as Genesys and Avidyne. Thank you for watching and making it possible!
