Does Belief In God Make Any Sense?

All over the world, billions believe in one god or another. There are many gods — and most believers are convinced that theirs is the only true one. But they can’t all be right. In this video, I look at the idea of God — using the Christian God as an example — and ask some difficult questions: If God created the world in six days and made us in his image… If He is all-powerful, all-seeing, and all-loving… Then why does He allow so much suffering — from war and disease to the daily pain and injustice that so many endure? We’re told that prayer brings comfort and sometimes results, but if prayers are answered only sometimes — and if faith offers no real advantage in life — what, then, is the point of believing? We live in a causal universe, where every event has prior causes. Can any divine being truly intervene to change what must follow? Religion has inspired some of the world’s greatest art and architecture — yet it has also fueled wars and division. And despite all of it, there has never been a single piece of real evidence to prove that God exists. Perhaps God is not a creator, but a creation — of the human mind.
