This is the sixth episode of the Great Roads series. The Pacific Northwest has tons of fantastic motorcycle roads. I am lucky to be able to enjoy them and it is my goal to share some of them, with the adventures that happen along the way. Wind River Road is located a few miles North of Carson, WA in the beautiful Gifford Pinchot National Forest. This section which we've dubbed the "Carson Run" is a steep-climbing section of very tight turns. The quality of the pavement and the visibility through the turns make it one of the most confidence-inspiring roads in the Northwest. However, the large number of turns in a short distance makes it especially difficult to memorize. The riding experience is greatly different depending on whether it's ridden Northbound or Southbound. The bike is a 1974 Kawasaki S3 "Mach II." It is the 400cc variant of the legendary line of two-stroke triples which made Kawasaki famous in the 60s and 70s. Lesser-known than the groundbreaking 500 and lethal 750 triples, the 400 has been regarded by some as the sleeper favorite of the family. Sharing a chassis with the 250 and 350 triples, the S3 is light-weight and exhibits few of the bad habits that made the triples famous as widowmakers. Our friend on the Ninja is CJ from Mylo Motors. That machine is a 1991 Kawasaki ZX-6D and truthfully, it really is faster than the triple in every possible way. I managed to "run away" from him because I have more hours of riding experience, and he was having some tire issues. Mylo Motors: / @mylomotors1736 Like the song used in the intro?
