West Coast Region, The Gambia 🗓 19th December 2025 Friday Khutbah by the Dean of the College of Sharia, Al-Ihsan University, on the Occasion of the Opening of a Jami‘ Mosque in the Village of Babylon All praise is due to Allah. We praise Him, seek His help, and ask for His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil within ourselves and from the consequences of our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whomsoever He allows to go astray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, his family, his companions, and all those who follow them in righteousness until the Day of Judgment. Dear brothers and sisters in Islam, Today is a blessed day, a day of joy and gratitude, as we gather to inaugurate this Jami‘ Mosque in the village of Babylon. The houses of Allah are the most beloved places on earth to Him. Allah the Almighty says in the Noble Qur’an: “The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish prayer, give zakah, and do not fear except Allah.” This mosque is not merely a building of bricks and cement; it is a center of faith, guidance, knowledge, unity, and mercy. The mosque has always played a central role in Islamic civilization. From the time of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the mosque was a place of worship, learning, consultation, reconciliation, and social care. Therefore, as we rejoice in opening this mosque, we must also renew our intention to make it alive with prayer, Qur’an, remembrance of Allah, sound knowledge, good character, and service to the community. Dear believers, One of the greatest acts of charity is contributing to the building of a mosque. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.” This promise includes not only those who contributed financially, but also those who helped with their effort, time, and sincere intention. May Allah accept this noble deed from everyone who participated in this blessed project. However, building the mosque is only the beginning. Maintaining it with sincerity, unity, and proper conduct is an ongoing responsibility. Let this mosque be a place where hearts are united, where differences are resolved with wisdom, where the young are taught the Qur’an and good manners, and where the values of Islam—justice, compassion, honesty, and brotherhood—are lived and practiced. Brothers and sisters, I advise myself and you to fear Allah in private and in public, to uphold the prayer in congregation, to respect the sanctity of this mosque, and to make it a source of guidance and light for this village and beyond. May Allah make this mosque a means of reform for individuals, families, and the entire community. O Allah, bless this mosque and those who built it. O Allah, make it a house of faith, knowledge, and tranquility. O Allah, unite our hearts upon the truth and guide our leaders, our scholars, and our youth to what You love and are pleased with. Indeed, Allah commands justice, excellence, and giving to relatives, and He forbids immorality, wrongdoing, and oppression. He admonishes you so that you may take heed. And establish the prayer.
