Webinar recorded live on 11/06/20 This is part of the Fall film series on Anti-racism and new black cinema. The First Rainbow Coalition charts the history and legacy of a groundbreaking multi-ethnic coalition that rocked Chicago in the 1960s. Comprised of activists from the Black Panthers, the Young Patriots (southern whites), and the Young Lords (a former Puerto Rican street gang), Chicago’s Rainbow Coalition (1969-1971) united poor blacks, whites, and Latinos to openly challenge police brutality and substandard housing in one of the most segregated cities in America. Alex Galindo from the Office of Student Affairs at the Harvard Graduate School of Education talks with Director/Producer of the film Ray Santisteban. (Film excluded from recording for copyright purposes) For more information on the film, go to it's website https://gooddocs.net/products/rainbow...
