Local songwriter and crooner Dylan Smucker popped by last year to play us several songs as part of Acme's "Local Love" series. Dylan's introspective songwriting lends itself well to the more traditional, twangy leanings of his band. The song "Hot Cups of Coffee" follows the emotions of a love lost and the ways that we cope with accepting the inevitable moving-on from people we care about deeply. Although Smucker is no stranger to the stage, having played and recorded music since the young age of 14, his new project, with its laid-back style and meaningful, thoughtful melodies, will transport the listener into a headspace made all their own. Dylan showcases wisdom well beyond his years and we will certainly be keeping an eye on him as he continues to grow and put out painfully heartfelt and evocative music.
