Starless è uno dei brani più iconici e ascoltati della band progressive King Crimson. Il titolo significa "senza stelle", e il brano presenta una melodia dolcissima che evolve in una sezione articolata con un riff particolare del basso elettrico in 13/8. Riarrangiare un brano così complesso per un solo strumento è stata una sfida, ma mi ha incuriosito la sua tonalità in Sol minore. Ho quindi realizzato una riduzione dai 12 minuti originali a poco più di 6 minuti, cercando di mantenere la magia del pezzo. Ho lavorato per ricreare l'atmosfera leggera e trasognata creata dalla voce di John Wetton, dalla chitarra di Robert Fripp, che con una leggera distorsione assume un timbro simile a un violino, e dal mellotron, che avvolge tutto con il suo tappeto sonoro. The title translates to "without stars", featuring a beautiful melody that later evolves into an intricate section with a distinctive 13/8 bass riff. Arranging such a complex piece for a single instrument was a challenge, but I was intrigued by its G minor key. I decided to take on this challenge and condensed the original 12-minute track into a more compact 5-minute version, while striving to preserve its essence. I worked to recreate the dreamy and atmospheric feel that emerges from John Wetton’s vocals, Robert Fripp’s guitar, which with slight distortion resembles a violin, and the mellotron, which provides a rich background layer.
