Jacqui Lambie calls out Australia’s ‘shameful’ state of defence

Senator Jacqui Lambie has expressed concerns about Australia’s defence capabilities, stating that it is unprepared to defend itself in the event of an attack. The Senator’s comments come as three Chinese warships re-entered Australia’s exclusive economic zone about 300 kilometres east of Hobart after recently completing live-fire exercises in the Tasman Sea. “I’m more worried about the money that we are wasting for those new submarines, that AUKUS deal and knowing that right now, if there was a massive war around the country, we’re actually not prepared to defend ourselves and that really bothers me more than anything,” Ms Lambie said. “We should have a lot more missiles, long range and short range covering right around Australia. “We just don’t have that and that is shameful.”
