Daddy's Creek and Icicle Caves

January 29, 2026. Hiking a new section of the Cumberland Trail on the west side of Daddy's Creek, traveling southward from Peavine Road (Devil's Breakfast Table southern trailhead) to Windsor Bluff Overlook. A chilly day (18°F start 30°F finish) offered the perfect opportunity to enjoy giant icicles hanging on the outside and inside of the cave section. Really nice, soft dirt trail with only a few, short rocky sections, all three major creek branches are bridged, and there is minimal elevation gain. Views of Daddy's Creek are limited for the first few miles, but that's made up for by an excellent cave section at around mile two. Starting just after mile three the trail runs alongside Daddy's Creek at creek level for about one mile until it intersects the Windsor Bluff Overlook Trail in Fairfield Glade.
