When light energy is incident on a surface, some may be reflected, some may be transmitted, and some may be absorbed. A lens is a portion of a transparent medium bounded by two spherical surfaces or by a plane and a spherical surface. There exist two kinds of lenses; (a) Convex or converging lens (b) Concave or diverging lens The various terms used in lenses are the principal axis, optical lens, the principal focus of a converging and diverging lens, the focal length of the lens. Three classes of rays are used to obtain the portion and nature of images formed by lenses. The human eye is one of the most sensitive instruments devised by nature. The eye lens has three main parts The lens capsule The lens epithelium. The lens fiber. Normal vision. People with normal vision have their nearest distance at which object can comfortably be seen at about 25cm from the eye. The farthest distance is at infinity. Two of the most common defects are long sight (hypermetropia) and short sight (Myopia).
