In this video I look back at what it was really like growing up Gen Z through Nintendo. I grew up in the early 2000s and like a lot of people my age, Nintendo was a huge part of my childhood. The DS on the bus, Wii Sports at every sleepover, Mario Kart Wii during every birthday party, carrying my 3DS everywhere for StreetPass at school, and discovering games through my friends, siblings, and YouTube. Even if we never met each other, so many of us shared the exact same Nintendo memories. I wanted to make a video that shows what the DS era, Wii era, 3DS era, Wii U era, and early Switch era felt like from the perspective of someone who lived through them in real time. I talk about the games that shaped my childhood like Super Mario 64 DS, New Super Mario Bros DS, Mario Kart DS, Mario Party DS, Pokemon, Nintendogs, Wii Sports, Mario Kart Wii, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Smash Bros Brawl, Nintendo Land, Tomodachi Life, Animal Crossing New Leaf, the Smash 3DS era, and many more. I also go into how it felt watching the Switch reveal as a kid and why that moment made so many Gen Z fans feel like Nintendo was reinventing itself again. And I talk about how the Wii still followed me into college and how these games stayed part of my life even as I got older. If you ever grew up with the DS, Wii, 3DS, Wii U, or early Switch, or if you are curious why Nintendo nostalgia hits so hard for Gen Z, this video goes through every era in detail. This is my own experience with Nintendo from childhood to adulthood and how each generation of consoles shaped the way I saw games growing up. Whether you are Gen Z, a long-time Nintendo fan, or someone who wants to understand why these systems defined an entire generation, I hope this helps capture what those years really felt like.
