I’ve seen hundreds of concerts and am not sure I’ve ever seen a songs lyrics played out in the crowd like I witnessed on opening night of Stevie Nicks 2025 tour on October 1, 2025 at the Moda Center in Portland. This was Stevie’s brethren, and the love between her and her Portland sisters was evident from the moment anyone got within walking distance of the venue. Waiting to park, walking to will call to get the tickets, a quick stroll to dinner at the Metropolitan Tavern, at dinner, walking back to the venue, entering, down the aisle to the main floor and to our seats 11th row center stage, Stevie’s bohemian rock n roll influence was everywhere. Rock on, Gold Dust Woman Take your silver spoon, dig your grave Heartless challenge Pick your path and I'll pray Wake up in the morning See your sunrise, loves to go down Lousy lovers pick their prey But they never cry out loud, cry out When she sang “ Stop dragging my heart around” with endless photos of former lovers, focusing on Don Henley more than most, she connected to the ladies in the crowd who’ve been there, done that. Well, did she make you cry Make you break down 100% she did, especially when she closed with Landslide and a beautiful montage of her and Christine, she did make us cry, tears of joy, and tears of sadness for her loss. Shatter your illusions of love? And is it over now, do you know how? Pick up the pieces and go home If anyone knows how to “pick up the pieces and go home”, it’s this chick. It also was obvious to me there was a real connection between Stevie and her followers who showed up in force, and dressed to the nines in honor of their queen. Rock on, ancient queen Follow those who pale in your shadow Google must be wrong when it says Stevie’s 77 and Waddy is 78. If that’s true, I’ve got work to do at 65. Rulers make bad lovers You better put your kingdom up for sale Up for sale Well, did she make you cry Make you break down Shatter your illusions of love? And is it over now, do you know how? Pick up the pieces and go home But did she make you cry Make you break down Shatter your illusions of love? And now tell me, is it over now? Do you know how to pick up the pieces And go home? Go home, go home Pale shadow of a woman Black widow Pale shadow of a dragon Dust woman Pale shadow of a woman Black widow Pale shadow, she's a dragon Gold Dust Woman Woman, woman I first saw Stevie as a young rock goddess at Chicago Stadium on July 23rd, 1977. It was a couple months after graduating high school, and we had front row tickets. While the band was great, especially Lindsey Buckingham on guitar, there was no doubt who everyone couldn’t take their eyes off; Stevie Nicks. She played four songs in Portland from that memorable Chicago show: Say You Love Me Monday Morning Dreams (PDX also) Rhiannon (PDX) Oh Well Oh Daddy Never Going Back Again Landslide (PDX) Over My Head Gold Dust Woman (PDX) The Chain You Make Loving Fun I'm So Afraid Go Your Own Way World Turning Blue Letter Songbird I saw her again a couple months later as they played Milwaukie County Stadium with some unknown guy named Jimmy Buffett. Even though we were in the nosebleeds with no video screens, she still stole the show and it was obvious her career would take off, with or without Lindsey or Fleetwood Mac. She proved once again, 48 years later, she’s still the queen, the dragon and the black widow .. all rolled into one.
