Episode 2 of the Phoebe St LIVE series puts the spotlight on Canadian-born and New Zealand-based singer songwriter Rachel Raditz, featuring musician and beat maker Jesse Solmon aka ‪@diggy_sol‬ Both are incredible talents on the rise. Rachel has been travelling the world playing pretty much anywhere she can while documenting her experiences with her music. The same can be said of Jesse. This episode offers us a glimpse and captures some of their free and wandering spirits as Rachel plays on her own acoustically, together with Jesse on electric guitar then finishes the set by writing a song on the fly over a Jesse beat. Rachel and Jesse are relative unknowns compared to Sloan’s Patrick Pentland, the subject of episode one, and it’s my hope that Phoebe St LIVE can contribute to new voices being heard and help them find their audience in this age of algorithm-driven streaming, which, while convenient, comes with challenges in that regard for up and coming artists like them.
