In this video I demonstrate how I use loose tenons and floating tenon joinery to make fast, solid, attractive joints for doors, face frames and other furniture. I don’t use a joiner machine of any kind, just my router, my cheap router table and a 3/8 " rabbeting bit with a 1/2-Inch Shank. The tenons are super easy to make with a decent bandsaw and a stationary belt sander. I titled this video to save the heartache for the guys and gals who actually spent the money on joiner machines that frankly, don’t give you the flexibility and versatility of doing this way. I certainly didn’t invent this kind of joinery and if you read older woodworking books, people have been using similar techniques for generations. It doesn’t require any more of your time than using a joiner machine. Also, no fussing with dowel jigs or any jigs for that matter! NOTE: For size, it is best to use a rabbet bit that is 1/3 of the thickness of your piece. You can use a 3/8" bit on a 3/4" piece of wood but that is about as far as you'd want to push it.
