Featured on the Putumayo collection "Women of Africa." Originally released on April 27th, 2004. From the liner notes: Judith Sephuma is a rising star on the South African music scene. She grew up in the town of Polokwane in the Limpopo province, and moved to Cape Town in 1994 to study jazz vocals at the local University. While Sephuma established an excellent reputation as a supporting vocalist and live performer, it was not until 2001 that she released her first solo album, A Cry, a Smile, a Dance. Produced by jazz guitarist Selaelo Selota, the album established Sephuma as a voice of the future, and earned her numerous awards, including Best African FemaleArtist at the 2002 KoraAwards, Africa’s equivalent of the Grammys. On “Le Tshephile Mang” Judith sings, “Our nation, our people, who do we trust? /We are always fighting, in who do we trust? /Why can’t we be happy for each other, stop all hatred and build our nation together?”
