Feeding a microscopic monster (Hydra under the microscope)

Feeding Hydra vulgaris with brine shrimp (artemia) under the microscope in darkfield. Hydra vulgaris was placed on a microscopic slide from a culture and then a small amount of brine shrimp culture was added. The hydras were allowed to sit on the slide for 10min to adjust to the new environment. Most of the footage is timelapsed 20x times (especially the ingestion process) The footage was captured on an Olympus BH-2 BHS in Darkfield using the 0,9 achromatic condensor with a patch stop. The objective was an SPlanApo 4/0,16 and the camera was a Panasonic S1 that was adapted with the Olympus L phototube and a NFK 2,5x projection eyepiece. Total magnification was 50x.
