—— My thoughts on Spyder TKL —— This keyboard turns out to be much more deeper and resonant than what I thought it would be. It’s not bad per se, but I doubt I can recommend this to just anyone. I think I can recommend this board to someone who likes classic sounding board. If that’s the goal for the boards design, they really nailed it. Also for some reason, I’m not sure why. This board reminds me of the reguler Monokei Kage. But I prefer this over kage, it’s much more comfy to type on for me. I like how simple to build this board is as well. —— My thoughts on the Build —— The client end up using the Top Mount and I really like how pairs well this GMK Trackday with this navy color. About the build, personally I like how the Top Mount sounds. But I think it’s gonna be perfect if paired with PP or PC plate. More so with PP plate. Other than because of MX Brown fits better with plastic plate. I think with those plates it’s gonna help the alphas to sound much fuller, a little bit more brighter and it can help cut down on those resonant sounds. —— The Keyboard Mounting —— I’m gonna straight say it first that, I’m not a fan of Dual Mount in general. It sounds too confusing for me, there’s too much mix up of Top Mount & O-Ring Mount sound. But I gotta admit, this dual mount works on this particular config. Cause it helps filling in each mounting’s weakness, like how on O-Ring Mount the alphas sounds slightly thin and with the Top Mount it has a little too much resonance. With Dual Mount, it sounds like Top Mount but without the resonance and it becomes deeper. If you’re looking for the least amount of resonants, just use the O-Ring mount or Dual Mount. If I have to line up on which mounting feel I like the least to the most on this board it’s gonna be: • Dual Mount – Top Mount – Oring Mount As for the mounting sound, from the least to the most: • Oring Mount – Dual Mount – Top Mount For the closing, huge thanks to the client for trusting me with the build and giving me the chance to try out Spyder TKL. —— BUILD SPECS —— • Keyboard: Spyder TKL by Plyworks • Keycaps: GMK Trackday • Plate: Aluminium • PCB: Solder FR4 1.6mm • Stabilizer: Cherry Clip-Ins • Switch: Cherry MX2A Brown • Spring: Geon 22mm Single-Stage 62.5g • Lube: Tribosys 3203 • Films: PC Switch Film • Mods: - 0:00 - Top Mount 2:07 - O Ring Mount (50a) 4:05 - Dual Mount (Top Mount + Oring) 5:59 - The Keyboard 6:31 - Camera Mic “Top Mount”
