Echidna Rescue & Release - after some minor surgery! A very Prickly Encounter!

I was just settling in on the couch after a long day at work when the phone rings... "Hey Benny...Any chance you could come over and rescue some wildlife from my dad's place?" I love it when these calls come through because they always come from friends who love wildlife as much as I do and they need some help. Usually it's a Tiger Snake in their woodpile or a Copperhead in their garden bed but this time it was a much friendlier client, a gorgeous little short-beaked Echidna in the garage wedged under the front of a car! After securing the sneaky little fella, I caught sight of a couple of Ticks so a quick stop back at my place where I took care of the nasty little suckers before scoping out a nice release spot for him on the outskirts of town.
