The Choleric Personality Type - The Four Temperaments / Humors - Explained

The choleric type is one of the temperaments or personality types of the four temperament theory. The four-temperament theory is perhaps the most important instrument of personality study. With this psychological model it is possible to recognize and classify some basic factors of one's own character or the character of the other person, and thus to understand himself and his fellow human beings much better. The choleric temperament has certain strengths and weaknesses: The basic nature of a choleric person is being quick-tempered. The constructive side of this temperament is his tremendous willpower, which makes him ambitious, disciplined, and purposeful. The destructive side of the choleric can reveal itself through temper and aggression. Some of their negative qualities are arrogance, imprudence, indiscretion, and impatience. The preferred defense mechanism of the choleric personality is an aggressive behaviour, they rant or denounce their counterpart in conflicts and difficulties. Choleric types are bursting with energy and spirit. They are also motivated by power and therefore direct their will especially on their own interests and projects. This is probably why choleric people often seek leadership positions. They often have an energetic appearance.
