Read this FIRST- BEFORE watching video! Replacing the F2GZ-9D289-A Vapor Canister Purge Valve assembly on a 2016. Edge Titanium with Ecoboost. Some connections are easy. One is terrible to deal with, and really, you don't need to change that one line... it is most likely totally fine. You WILL regret taking off that lowest connector. Just do not do it. Leave it alone and change only the purge canister solenoid section. There are multiple cheap options you can get for around $48-$60 . OR, in all actuality, you only need to replace the canister. Just pull it off you old assembly. Pull it right off the line. Buy the purge valve solenoid piece and a couple tiny band clamps and just swap that out. Super easy. It pulls right off and slips right back on. Some people add a new hose line. I did not. It seems like no matter what brand you buy, they will all fail eventually. Poor design. Even the OEM ones. So you might as well buy a couple cheap but better rated ones and use those. My first round of this problem, I really had no symptoms other than the irritating check engine light, which prevents you from remote starting the engine. The 2nd failure, the code was slightly different code, P0443 error, but same resolution. The symptom though, was that after filling up the gas tank, it did not want to immediately start. This is the literal definition of the purge valve duty, to remove or block vapors. It is supposed to keep those fumes from causing a problem. You have to wait a minute for that to occur on its own and then you can start. Sometimes the failure of this valve is a degradation of the electrical part of it. For that reason, it is a good idea to measure the resistance of the solenoid before you install it. Then you have a benchmark number. Try finding an actual number online. You really won't find one that pertains. The value is not consistent among various manufacturers. Some things online tell you the OEM version has the number in a mechanics reference manual. I could not locate it. And it does not pertain to the after market ones anyway. Another way you can check if the valve is mechanically sound is if you can get air to travel through it in only one direction. If it allows air flow in both directions, it is faulty. But the easiest thing is just to have an extra and change it out. They are not expensive. Just change it. Clear the code, see if it resolves it. If you want to watch the video just to see locations and how connectors of different kinds operate, then go ahead and watch. I did not edit the video. I am no pro at videos. I don't have the time or inclination to do it. It is not the best video, but I think it does show some of the things you may want to see if you had to take the whole thing apart.
