Infosys founder N.R. Narayana Murthy and his wife, Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murty, have refused to participate in the Karnataka government’s Social and Educational Survey. When officials visited their Jayanagar home, they reportedly said, “We don’t wish to take part in the survey.” This refusal has triggered widespread criticism. The couple submitted a self-declaration form citing “personal reasons” and handwritten notes saying, “We do not belong to any backward community.” While their decision isn’t illegal—since the survey isn’t mandatory—it has raised moral and social questions. As prominent citizens who built a global IT empire with the support of Karnataka’s resources, should they not set an example by cooperating with a public welfare initiative? The survey is not just about backward classes—it’s a statewide effort to understand the educational, social, and economic realities of all seven crore people of Karnataka. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah himself clarified this multiple times. Yet, Murthy and Sudha Murty seem to have misunderstood it—or, as the editorial argues, perhaps taken a deliberate political stance. Critics note that similar resistance is coming from upper-caste and BJP-affiliated circles, with some housing associations even refusing entry to survey staff. The editorial questions whether Murthy’s refusal aligns with this trend of silent protest against social equality measures. After all, when Karnataka gave Infosys vast tracts of land, infrastructure, and incentives, the government never asked Murthy’s caste. If the survey aims to identify inequality, poverty, and social gaps across all communities—including Brahmins and upper castes—why object? As Hanif concludes: “Mr. Narayana Murthy, you may not belong to a backward caste, but inequality exists even among the privileged. Refusing this survey sends the wrong message. Think again.” •••••••••• Trivarna News- ಸಮಗ್ರ ಸುದ್ದಿ- ಸಮೃದ್ಧ ಕನ್ನಡ • Subscribe: / @trivarnanewskannada • Facebook: / trivarnanews • X: / trivarnanews • Instagram: / trivarnanewskannada •••••••••• ⚠️Disclaimer: The content in the video is for informational purposes only.
