Filmed on May 17th, 2022. Empty bus? Why not film a short ridealong on a very warm day? Yes there was A/C on this bus, proud of that. This was the 12:10 pm 2B westbound bus run from Bay Shore/Mechanicsville Rd. to Farmingdale State College. The film starts off on S. 18th St. & Nicolls Rd. all the way to Colonial Springs Rd. & Pinelawn Rd. passing through the Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights section on to Melville. Later on in this video, you’ll see the same bus again leaving Woods Rd./Prairie Drive in North Babylon bound for Bay Shore. The announcements on this bus were VERY SLOW, as well as OUTDATED when it announces “Next Stop… Newsday, Melville..” when Newsday is actually no longer there and a brand new factory is under construction (I believe Amazon). Other than that, I’m not a big fan on who’s under the announcement voiceover. The 2010 Orion VII NG Diesel buses are pretty much now the oldest in the Suffolk County Transit System, ranging from 41’, 35’, and 32.5’ bus lengths. They are currently 12 years old, some spitting smoke from the exhaust as they accelerate. Some of them I think have been starting to retire probably due to the delivery of the New Flyer XDE35’s and 40’s in 2019-2020 (Correct me if I’m wrong). When they fully retire, I’ll definitely miss them. I hope you guys enjoy the ride!
