Heavy rain, winds batter Western Australia as Cyclone Narelle makes landfall

Tropical Cyclone Narelle made landfall in Western Australia on Friday, disrupting production at liquefied natural gas plants and cutting off power to thousands of residents. Narelle was downgraded from a category four to a category three event as it made landfall in Exmouth, in northwest Australia, knocking out the power in the town and tearing the roof off the evacuation centre — forcing residents to relocate.  Narelle passed through Carnarvon as a Category 3 storm, bringing winds “in excess of 125 km/h," the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
