Please don’t be surprised – from 1:49 on, the location and day change. I had the pleasure of test riding the absolutely brilliant Ducati Multistrada V4 S twice. And now, here are my impressions: First of all, I’d like to point out that, despite what the data sheet says, you don’t feel the Multistrada V4 S’s considerable weight at all while riding. This thing handles like a sportbike – unbelievable. And yes, before you ask: I’m clearly on Team Multistrada, not Team GS. I much prefer the significantly sportier character. The bike is incredibly agile and feels very neutral, with excellent front-end feedback. Just aim for the line – and hit it. What did surprise me during the first ride was that the bike occasionally tended to wobble or feel slightly twitchy at the tires. I'm not sure if that was due to the lightweight wheels or if I was doing something wrong. Another rider mentioned he had noticed it too. However, it wasn't really a problem after a short adjustment period and is still acceptable given how sharp the bike steers. The suspension is simply brilliant. The way it smooths out bumps (and yes, I really pushed it, as you probably saw!) is unreal. I honestly don’t know anything better on the market right now. The engine is full of character and fun, although I do have one small criticism: once you hit around 6,000 RPM, I wish the sound were a bit more present. You should be able to hear that it’s a V4! Otherwise, it's a perfectly linear powerhouse that launches the Multi forward relentlessly. The excellent quickshifter completes the package. The high-end Brembo Stylema brakes up front are very precise and bring you to a stop instantly when needed. That’s exactly how it should be! The upright and comfortable seating position makes long-distance touring no problem at all. Wind protection is also excellent. Well done, Ducati! In the end, the only thing that really bothers me about the Multistrada V4 is the price. For many, the V2 will likely remain the smarter choice – which is a shame. All things considered, I truly believe Ducati currently has the best model in this class on offer.
