Durward Street August 2021 - A Jack The Ripper Murder Site.

On 23rd August 2021 the new Whitechapel Underground Station concourse opened to the public, and people could, once again, enter the station via the 1876 façade on Whitechapel Road. The new station now includes a public walkway that connects Whitechapel Road with Durward Street, which was formerly Buck's Row, the scene of the murder of Jack the Ripper's first victim Mary Nichols, on August 31st, 1888. This video takes a look at the new Whitechapel Station and visits the site in Buck's Row where the murder of Polly Nichols actually took place. It also features footage of the site filmed in 2016 and in 1989, so that viewers can get an idea of what the site used to look like and how it has changed over the years.
