SAN DIEGO — Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire Wednesday night after a car reportedly overheated and burst into flames in the Jamacha neighborhood. The incident was dispatched around 10:19 p.m. on March 4, 2026, near the intersection of Jamacha Road and Meadowbrook Drive, according to authorities. When crews arrived, they found a single vehicle on fire. The owner of the vehicle told me that his car began overheating while he was driving. After pulling over to check the problem, he said he looked underneath the vehicle and noticed the catalytic converter glowing bright red. Moments later, the vehicle began smoking before catching fire, he said. The driver also stated the car had received an oil change the day before, though it is not yet known whether that was related to the incident. Firefighters with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department worked to extinguish the flames while San Diego Police officers assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported. The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
