Sound recordings captured in the time domain need to be converted or processed in the frequency domain so as to obtain useful information about the sound. One such analysis is the Octave band analysis which displays the frequency distribution of sound in octave bands. However there are octave band analysis of different resolutions such as 1/1 Octave band, 1/3 Octave band and so on.
