Read blogpost here: https://whippycake.com/2016/05/motiva... The topic of this video is the effects of positive and negative self-talk and how it can have a physical, mental, and emotional impact on your body and your life. Whether you have learned this already from experience, or you roll your eyes at cliches like "the power of positive thinking," the fact is that your inner thoughts do influence your body chemistry, your mentality, and ultimately your actions. It’s proven science, like it or not. So what does that mean for you? It means if you have negative self-talk, for example, you tell yourself you are fat over and over again everyday, your body will become what you tell it it is, i.e. overweight. On the flip side, if you tell yourself positive self affirming thoughts on a regular basis, you automatically boost your confidence, motivation, success rate, and your mental, physical, and emotional health. If you’re a skeptic, and you need validating proof about what I am saying, then I dare you to try the rice experiment I talked about in this video. I guarantee you that when you try this experiment for yourself, you will see firsthand what thoughts and words can do. If words can change a grain of rice, imagine the effects they have on a physical person (YOU) with a heart and mind. Maybe realizing this will help you be more selective and intentional about the things you think. And by the way, I am not delusional in thinking this is easy. I struggle every single day with negative self-talk. From thinking "I have no motivation today" to even more painful thoughts like "I’m a terrible mom and I don’t deserve to have kids." You are exactly what you think. If I want motivation, I tell myself how motivated and excited I feel to accomplish so many things today, and then my body obeys that thought process. If I say I am a good mom, then I emotionally follow suit and naturally become more nurturing and tentative because I decided to think that way, which makes me act that way. It’s all so very simple and all so very impossible at the same time. As hard as it may be though, you literally cannot afford to be mean to yourself, your confidence and happiness depend on it. I just want to wrap things up by saying that I think you’re amazing. You might be in a place where you don’t recognize anything good about yourself, but the fact is (yes, I said fact), you’re pretty special and fully understanding the magnitude of what you are capable of is not only scary but takes constant work and honestly, it’s uncomfortable sometimes. I hope you will be brave with me and make a choice to put in the work, feel all the feels, and take at least one step every day to stand in your own spotlight. We don’t become everything we want to be overnight—we make progress little by little. I think it’s about time you become a full time girl in progress. Want more Monday motivation?
