Ultimately, the goal of any acoustic amp is to increase the volume of your acoustic guitar’s warm, natural tone. The amplifier should not necessarily change the tone. Acoustic guitars require full-frequency amplification and distortion-free sound. Electric guitar amps amplify an electric guitar signal, and add with it a substantial amount of gain. Acoustic amps, amplify an untouched, more pure signal required for a cleaner sound. After purchasing a new acoustic guitar, I decided it was time to also upgrade to an acoustic amp as well. Amongst the available acoustic amps at the shop, I was reacquainted to the newer model of the Acoustic 100 Amp. I plugged in my Martin Dreadnought Junior to play a short riff. Wow. And at only 400 bucks, I had to have it. Surprisingly, Fender products come with a few extras right out of the box: Some frivolous paperwork that you can ignore, a detailed manual, and a 2 year limited warranty, which isn’t bad. It is nice that the amp also comes with digital guitar lessons. Sign up online with Fender if you’re advanced and want to learn new skills, or if you’re just a beginner and don’t know where to start. Not a deal breaker, but I was bummed the amp did not come with any sort of cover that could protect it. When you are traveling around, amps can be damaged quite easily. It was a little disappointing that this feature was overlooked. I did find out later on that you can purchase a cover separately for about $25. To me, seemed like something that could have easily been included. Highlighted Key Features • This 100W acoustic guitar amplifier amplifies full, natural tone. • There are two channels. This is great if you want to play along with a friend who did not bring along their amp, as the two of you can keep effects independent from one another. • Create a polished performance with an array of digital effects. Thankfully, Fender did not go overboard with a multitude of unnecessary effects… They left only what is needed. The effects are Room Reverb, Hall Reverb, Tape Echo, Delay with Repeats, Chorus, Vibratone, Delay & Chorus, and Delay & Hall Reverb. • Bluetooth grants you the ability to synchronize your phone up with the amp. Some of the best practice for me is through playing along with my favorite songs . • You can record everything to your computer with the USB jack. • Great sounding 8" full-range whizzer cone speaker. • Auxiliary input, XLR line output, and headphone output. • 3-band EQ • Attractive plywood shell ◦ Construction material is Finished Plywood with a Brown Grille cloth. Favorite Thing What can you really say is your favorite thing about an amp? The sound of this amp is impressive! For me this amp is perfect for anyone playing at home. The amp is not too large and heavy, and I can play it at levels that do not disrupt my neighbors. That said, the Acoustic 100 Amp would also be a great accomplice for smaller coffeehouse-style gigs. Plug your guitar in, hit the stage, and enjoy the beautiful natural tones this amp provides. Combine it with your favorite vocal mic in the dual channel inputs for an easy and great sounding performance out of one small amp. When the show is over, the Fender Acoustic 100’s handle makes transportation easy.
