This tribute is intended to summarise and celebrate Cortana's story while cleanly incorporating the deeper lore surrounding her. The second and equally important face of the Halo franchise, Jen Taylor's performance as Cortana has in many ways being the most defining voice of the Halo experience, ever present throughout the story and gameplay right from the start. In keeping with her in universe purpose, she has been a guide in helping hand to the chief and by extension the player throughout the saga. From her inception as a vital component of what would have been operation red flag all the way to her fall to despotism, her core motivation has remained the same, to safeguard humanity's greatest hope, Spartan John 117.
