Clarivein® is a hybrid endovenous treatment for superficial venous reflux which involves a fine rotating filament at the end of the catheter inside the vein and the simultaneous administration of a prescription medicine called a sclerosant. We have a range of excellent endovenous treatments such as laser and medical superglue, which are all highly effective, minimally invasive and which can be performed under local anaesthetic on a walk in walk out basis; so why might someone want to consider this one. Well in this video I suggest 5 factors you may wish to take account of. Firstly, Clarivein® does not require multiple local anaesthetic injections. Typically, only one local anaesthetic jab is required per leg. For people who are very anxious about needles or indeed for people who are truly needle-phobic, Clarivein® is something to consider. Secondly, Clarivein® is the first and as yet only truly hybrid system of reflux treatment. By this I mean that 2 modes of action are employed. A mechanical action of the fine rotation filament and a chemical action from the prescription medicine. Many specialists refer to Clarivein® s MOCA – mechanic-chemical ablation. Some specialists feel that hybrid systems are the way forward for gentler, kinder yet very effective treatment. Thirdly, Clarivein® can be used to treat refluxing veins which are very close to nerves. This may be an advantage when treating reflux below the knee either at the back of the calf or near the ankle. Because Clarivein® does not use heat energy, the risk of injury to sensory nerves is almost zero. Fourthly, Clarivein® seems to be particularly useful in the treatment of leg ulcers caused by superficial venous reflux. The hybrid system can be used to treat the reflux and also the smaller veins around and near the ulcer. Preliminary research in the medical literature suggest that Clarivein® may be a big advance in this area. Finally, in the last few weeks, Clarivein® has received approval by NICE the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. This national organisation has reviewed the medical evidence on the safety and effectiveness of Clarivein® and stated that this evidence is adequate to support the use of this procedure for varicose veins. So there are five reasons you may wish to consider Clarivein® for your varicose veins. http://www.theveincarecentre.co.uk/tr...
