As Corona Schools marks 70 years of educational excellence in Nigeria, the Corona Schools Alumni Association will host a Black Tie Gala Dinner on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Jewel Aeida Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos. According to a statement, the evening begins with a red carpet reception at 5pm. The gala aims to raise ₦200 million for two key initiatives: establishing a state-of-the-art Tech Hub to equip students with STEM and digital skills, and creating an endowment fund for scholarships to ensure financial barriers don’t prevent access to quality education. “This has been over six months of tireless work and creative collaboration from alumni across generations,” said Sola Alamutu (GQ), Co-Chairperson of the Corona@70 Planning Committee. “We’ve come together not just to celebrate our shared history, but to chart a bold new future for the next generation of Corona students.” Planning Committee Chairperson Roland Abiola Odukomaiya emphasised the milestone’s significance: “The 70th anniversary reflects decades of excellence, leadership, and positive influence. I encourage all alumni and friends of Corona to come out in full force, not just to celebrate, but to contribute meaningfully to the future of this institution we all hold dear.” The gala is part of several commemorative activities, including the Corona Education Roundtable held in March, which brought together education stakeholders and policymakers to discuss Nigeria’s educational future. This milestone year has strengthened collaboration between the Alumni Association and Corona Schools’ Trust Council to enhance the school’s relevance and excellence. For seven decades, Corona Schools have produced influential leaders including former Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Chief Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, CBN Governor Dr. Yemi Cardoso, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, LIRS Executive Chairman Ayo Subair, and entertainment stars Burna Boy (Ebunoluwa Damini Ogulu), Banky W, Teju Babyface, and many others making global impact. The Corona@70 Black Tie Gala Dinner promises to be a night of glamour, purpose, and legacy-building. All alumni and friends of Corona are encouraged to attend this evening of glamour, purpose and legacy-building.
