Today I headed out to the beautiful trails at Weeki Wachee Preserve for a 6-mile trail run and talked about something that’s been on my mind a lot lately — getting into ultra running as a bigger runner. A lot of people assume ultrarunning is only for super lean athletes, but the truth is that the trails are for everyone. In this run I share some thoughts about what it’s like chasing big endurance goals while not fitting the typical “runner” stereotype. From pacing yourself, to dealing with the Florida heat, to just learning to enjoy the process out on the trails. The Weeki Wachee Preserve is one of my favorite places to run — quiet trails, beautiful Florida wilderness, and the perfect place to clear your head and put in some miles. Whether you’re just starting your running journey, thinking about trail running, or curious about ultra distances, hopefully this video gives you some motivation to get outside and move. Sometimes the hardest part is just showing up and putting one foot in front of the other.
