My Dream Walk-In Humidor Is FINISHED!! Let's Fill It With Cigars! | Vigilant Inc | Kirby Allison

My DREAM walk-in humidor by Vigilant, Inc., is finally complete! After a long construction process, this beautiful new 200 sq ft humidor is complete and ready to be filled with my collection of cigars. Just like any wine collector, a proper walk-in humidor is the dream of any cigar lover! And I couldn't be more excited to share with you the final result! Designed in collaboration with Vigilant, Inc, a leading manufacturer of custom wine cellars and cigar humidors, and built by local contractors here in Dallas, this is now a permanent fixture in my office and a place that I can confidently and safely store my cigars for long-term aging. The process for constructing a walk-in humidor is remarkably similar to that of a wine cellar. First, you need to create a vapor barrier to seal in humidity and insulate the space. This can be done with 3 mil plastic sheeting or, even better, with closed-cell spray foam, which is what I used. Then mold and humidity resistant dry wall must be installed, before installing the interior finishings. I had a local artisan install the wood floor and unfinished pine ceiling. Then the pre-fabricated Vigilant shelving was installed inside the room. The temperature is controlled using a Wine Guardian D050 conditioning unit that is purpose-built to minimize the removal of moisture from the air when cooling (VERY IMPORTANT!). A Condair RH2+ Humidifier is used to control the humidity.
