The Ping Pong Theory is more than a trick: it's a real technique based on a large picture of literature, arts and philosophy throughout the centuries. Every Movement follows a specific pattern concerning the use either of instinct or of reason in order to try and give humanity a final solution to the essential needs and questions of life. If you understand and follow this special analysis, you will never fail again when you try to connect a period with a movement, a movement with an artist and an artist with a technique/perspective of life. Warning: this is just an outlined and simplified timeline that uses a hyperbolic interpretation of Periodisation. It's been argued that this method isn't always accurate but I suppose it is obvious (and underlined in the video) that history of literature, arts, philosophy and science is much more complex than a Ping Pong game! And much longer than a 30 mins explanation! This explanation has a pedagogical purpose, in order to help beginners to see the general meaning of Petiodisation and avoid huge mistakes.
