Head to SimpleNursing’s OFFICIAL website here: https://bit.ly/3Hyhb76 What is angina? What are the differences between stable angina vs. unstable angina. And what are the key concepts the NCLEX wants RN nursing students and LPN students to know cardiac medical surgical nursing for adult health? Angina is chest pain that occurs during exercise or strenuous activity when the heart muscles do not get enough oxygen rich blood supply. The difference between stable angina is that the pain stops when exercise stops, and unstable angina persists even when at rest. Angina may be a warning sign to ischemic heart disease, and also a heart attack (myocardial infarction) when one of the heart’s coronary arteries are suddenly blocked, usually by ruptured plaque that leads to the formation of a blood clot (thrombus). To diagnose the difference between angina & a heart attack (myocardial infarction) cardiac enzymes like troponin, CPK, CK, CK-MB are typically drawn. Nitroglycerine sublingual is typically given to patients with both stable and unstable angina.
