During the third Mongol invasion of Poland (1287–1288), Nogai and Teleboga's troops attacked Lesser Poland again, wreaking havoc in Sandomierz and Kraków. In the Battle of Łagów, Polish knights led by Prince Leszek the Black successfully repelled the Mongol attack, forcing the invaders to retreat. The next battle at Stary Sącz was of key importance - the defenders of the stronghold and the local knights successfully stopped Teleboga's troops, forcing them to retreat. These victories were the last major clashes with the Mongols on Polish lands and contributed to the end of their major invasions of our country.
