Create a chic, stylish bag that elevates any outfit with this Tie Knot Bag sewing tutorial. The design blends a modern design with timeless versatility, making it perfect for everyday wear or a night out. With its beautifully knotted handle and relaxed, soft shape, this bag is a must-have accessory for any season. In this tutorial, I’ll walk you through sewing a fully lined bag with a zipper enclosure for added security. The zippered design ensures your belongings stay safe while offering a polished, professional finish. If you want to add a bit more structure, I’ll also show you how to incorporate an optional base insert that helps shape the bag beautifully. Whether you're working with fabric or experimenting with leather bag making, this bag can be easily adapted to suit your material choice. The design works beautifully with medium to heavy-weight fabrics like cotton canvas or denim, as well as leather or faux leather for a more structured look. I recommend choosing a soft, malleable fabric that will work well with the curved zipper. I’ll guide you through sewing a bag with both lining and a zipper, ensuring a polished, high-end result. This project also includes a free pattern, so you can dive right in with no need to purchase additional patterns. It’s available in A4, Letter, and A0 formats for easy printing. Pattern Use: This free pattern is for personal use only. Please do not sell the pattern or items made from it, or use it for commercial purposes. Thank you for supporting independent designers 💛 You can download the free pattern here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folder... Plus, I've included imperial measurements throughout the tutorial for a user-friendly experience, no matter where you're sewing from! What You’ll Need: • 38-40cm / 15” #5 metal zipper • Teflon sewing foot and zipper foot (if sewing leather or PU leather) • Heavy-duty sewing thread • Heavy-duty needles (90/14, 100/16, or 110/18 depending on fabric) • EVA foam or similar material for the optional base insert • Tiny piece (10cm x 4cm / 4” x 1.5”) iron-on fusing • Wire cutters (for removing metal teeth in zipper) • Optional: Fabric clips (for holding leather / PU leather) For Fabric Users: • Main fabric: 0.85 m / 0.9 yds (110cm / 44” wide fabric) • Lining fabric: 0.4 m / 0.5 yds (110cm / 44” wide fabric) I recommend testing thick layers of fabric or leather before starting. For leather hides, take your printed pattern pieces with you to ensure you’re buying large enough hides and can avoid any natural imperfections. I share all my design processes and tutorials from my home studio, where I focus on creating wearable pieces that elevate your everyday wardrobe.
